The past few days we've been talking resolutions, and we don't mean pixel dimensions. Most photographers have plans to change, develop and improve their photography and many of us use the New Year as a starting point. We asked the staff of DP and PP to let us know what their photo resolutions are for 2012: To be brave enough to ditch the zooms and go out with just one prime lens. The idea is, the simplicity of the approach will pay back in creative and unique images. Now, which lens do I take? 20, 28, 35, 50 or the 90mm macro? Hmmm… Jon Adams, DP editor To finally get a photo book printed! Inevitably this will mean far too many hours spent at the computer re-editing RAW files, but it's long overdue. Ben Hawkins, PP deputy editor I've promised myself to have a thorough clear out of my Lightroom image library, deleting unwanted RAW files to free up some much needed space on my hard drives. Michael Topham, DP technical editor To carry only the kit I actually need in a small bag, not everything I have in my large bag. James Abbott, PP technique editor I plan to work on my portraiture which is an area of photography I find quite difficult. Oh, and save up to get a D700 or D800 depending on when it's released, a 24-120mm or 24-85mm lens and a second flash gun. Expensive times. Adam Atkins, DP technical writer To shoot a photo a day for 2012 – whether that be on my DSLR, my iPhone, or a borrowed camera from the PP office. Ed Godden, PP technique writer To experiment with my welding-glass big stopper, learn to edit video from my new EOS 60D, and to build a DIY motion-controlled camera rig. John Milbank, PP art editor We also asked our Facebook followers what their photo resolutions were and received loads of varied replies.
